Description

The Jagannath Triad, comprising Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra, stands as the revered heart of Odishan spirituality and art. This iconic trinity, central to the great temple in Puri, embodies divine protection and the profound spiritual legacy of the region. In this Akankshya Panda Pattachitra, the deities are rendered with the tradition's characteristic stylisation, featuring large, captivating eyes, simplified yet powerful forms, and a vibrant chromatic scheme. Strong, decisive outlines define each figure, framed by the ornate floral borders quintessential to this devotional art form.

Crafted by artist Akankshya Panda, this Pattachitra is rendered using acrylic paint on canvas, a contemporary interpretation that honours the enduring aesthetic principles of this ancient tradition. Pattachitra, meaning "cloth painting" (patta means cloth), originates from Odisha and is historically a cloth-based scroll tradition, primarily flourishing around Puri and the famed artisan village of Raghurajpur. While traditional Pattachitras meticulously prepared cloth with tamarind glue and chalk and used natural mineral and vegetable colours, this work deftly employs modern mediums to evoke the same intricate detail, narrative clarity, and strong outlining technique that defines the art.

This work is a truly one of a kind original painting, not a mass produced print. It arrives with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its provenance and the artist's hand. We are pleased to offer free insured delivery across India, ensuring this distinctive piece reaches your collection safely and securely.
