This exquisite Madhubani painting depicts Krishna and Radha, the divine lovers whose eternal bond symbolizes the soul's profound longing for the divine. Radha, the epitome of pure devotion, and Krishna, the supreme beloved, are central to the Bhakti tradition, their playful and spiritual love inspiring countless narratives across India. Here, their sacred connection is rendered through the distinctive visual language of Madhubani, characterized by intricate double-line borders, stylized almond eyes, and the tradition of dense filling that leaves virtually no space empty, creating a vibrant, patterned composition.
Artist Neelam Singh, working from Uttar Pradesh, brings this narrative to life using acrylic on handmade sheet, staying true to the enduring techniques of Madhubani art. This rich tradition, also known as Mithila art, hails from the Mithila region of Bihar where women traditionally painted on freshly plastered mud walls and floors during auspicious occasions like weddings and festivals. From the 1960s, these vibrant expressions transitioned onto paper, allowing their iconic motifs of fish, peacocks, lotuses, the sun, moon, and serpents, along with key styles like bharni with its bold colour fills and kachni with its fine lines and cross-hatching, to be preserved and shared.
This exceptional artwork by Neelam Singh is a one of a kind original, not a mass produced print, ensuring its unique value and authenticity. It ships accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing its provenance. We are pleased to offer complimentary insured delivery across India, ensuring your prized acquisition arrives safely and securely.
