This Madhubani painting presents the beloved deity Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles, patron of arts and sciences, and the god of wisdom and good fortune. He is prominently depicted alongside the Swastika, an ancient, auspicious symbol representing prosperity and well-being in Hinduism. In this rendition, Ganesha's form is rendered with the characteristic stylised almond eyes and bold lines typical of the Madhubani tradition, imbuing the divine figures with both sacred reverence and the distinct visual language of Mithila art.
Crafted by artist Ruchi from Noida, this work utilises natural colours on a handmade base, continuing a lineage of artistic expression. Madhubani art, also known as Mithila painting, traditionally flourished in the Mithila region of Bihar, where women meticulously adorned freshly plastered mud walls and floors for significant life events like weddings and festivals. Since the 1960s, this vibrant tradition has transitioned onto paper, maintaining its distinctive hallmarks: dense infilling, often leaving no space empty, and the signature double-line borders, frequently incorporating elements of both the bharni, bold colour fill, and kachni, fine line, styles.
This painting is a singular, one-of-a-kind original, not a print, reflecting the unique hand and vision of the artist. It will be dispatched with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing its provenance and originality.
