Description

This striking Madhubani artwork presents Vinayak, the revered Hindu deity known as the remover of obstacles and the lord of new beginnings. In this rendering, Vinayak is depicted with the distinctive stylised almond eyes characteristic of Mithila painting. The composition adheres to the tradition of horror vacui, with intricate patterns densely filling the entire space, surrounding the central figure with auspicious motifs that amplify his benevolent presence.

Crafted by artist Jyoti Singh from Noida, this piece exemplifies the unique visual language of Madhubani. Historically, this art form, also known as Mithila painting, was created by women on freshly plastered mud walls and floors in Bihar for festive occasions and celebrations. From the 1960s, the practice extended to paper, allowing for new expressions while retaining core elements like double-line borders. This work, executed in mixed media on paper, showcases either the vibrant bharni style with its bold colour fills or the delicate linear work of kachni, embodying the ancestral techniques.

As a unique, one of a kind original creation, this artwork offers a profound connection to an enduring cultural legacy. It is not a print, and will be delivered with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. We ensure free, insured delivery across India for this exceptional piece.
